Dear Parents and Players,

We look forward to seeing you at the Coolhurst Junior Open (www.coolhurst.co.uk ) on Sunday 22nd January.

The initial draw is now available to view on: https://sportmgr.co.uk/t/110319/info

Note: this is subject to change between now and the start of the tournament and you are advised to check the draw 12 hours before the event starts.  Any significant changes will be communicated to you.

Withdrawals:  Anyone withdrawing from the tournament from 18th Jan 2023 will not receive a refund.

Please read the following information so you know how everything works. Also make sure you tell your child everything, especially if you are new to these tournaments.

We have done our very best to ensure that people do not spend all day and as short a time as possible at the event.  We have had a large number of entries (85) and nearly 150 matches will be played over 7 courts.

  • Address: Coolhurst Road, London N8 8EY.
  • Tournament Organiser Vickie Prow: Tel 07796181286.
  • Please arrive approx. 20 mins before your first game and register with the organiser.  You should also be available 20 mins before all games.
  • If you must withdraw or are going to be late you must call Vickie in the first instance. Do not send an email as we will not be picking these up!!!!!
  • Parking is available at Coolhurst but it is very limited.  The parking restrictions will not be in place on the day.  There is plenty of parking available on the local streets.
  • Registration and the tournament office is in the Bar area
  • Changing rooms and toilets are located downstairs.
  • Courts 3-6 are located outside upstairs.  Make your way towards the tennis courts, turn right and follow the path up the stairs.
  • Courts 1 & 2 are located in the pavilion, to right as you enter past the changing rooms
  • Court 7 – follow the directions for courts 3-6 and head towards the gym.
  • All matches are best of 3 (first to 2 games) first to 11.  2 clear points are required to win a game.
  • We are playing a system of Monrad or round robin, which means each player plays to the final position.  You are not out of the tournament if you lose your first match or any further match until the end.  If you are not familiar with this system, please speak to your coach in advance of playing in the tournament.
  • Please make sure you know the start time of each match.  After you have played your first and every match you are required to mark the next match on the court (both players).  Collect your match sheet from your marker, return it to the desk and collect the marking sheet for the next match.  If you are not familiar with marking, speak to your coach at your next training session and get some practice.  If you need help on the day, ask.  Coaches and older/experienced juniors will be there to help you.
  • Parents do not interfere with the marking.  There may be some decisions that you don’t agree with.  If there are any problems, contact Vickie.
  • Do not leave if you have lost or after your game.  You must check with the tournament desk the time and day of your next match.  We may change times slightly to make sure things move smoothly.  This may mean you play earlier or later or more games than you expect in the day.
  • Other users and clubs will be using the building at the same time to please respect other users.  It will be very busy at times.
  • The bar and café will be open from approx. 9am for hot drinks, refreshments, snacks and lunch etc.
  • If you have any problems or complaints let us know as soon as possible.  We’d also appreciate it if you could come to us with a solution.  We are volunteers and would like help from parents to take on roles that will help us run the tournament.

Have a great day.  Vickie.
